Sunflower Design
Sunflower Design was founded and is run by Janet Merryweather in Nottingham. Originally called Sunflower Soft furnishings when she set up in 2005 making curtains and blinds, in 2011 she took the decision to change the name as she had been designing bags and gifts for a couple of years and more recently began teaching. Sunflower was the name of her son in her tummy when pregnant so this is really her second baby!
Jan’s background is City & Guilds in Soft Furnishings. Her love of textiles and craft brought Emma Learoyd and Jan together on a felting course in 2009 and they became firm friends. All Things Crafty was launched in July 2011 and they ran their creative workshops from their studio until Oct 2013. Her philosophy is very much about ‘passing on her passion for all things crafty and creative’ and she loves nothing more than seeing the variety of products produced by her students. Her children’s sewing classes and birthday parties are popular too.
Due to the success of her Soft Furnishings Jan now only holds one to one or bespoke classes for adults and children. Please do get in touch if this is of interest.

Blinds
I just love my blinds, which you made for me. Oli's blind is gorgeous, and I love the cherry red border you suggested. Not only did it mean I didn't need another width of material, it seems to define the blind better, and works well with the polka dot print. The black out lining was brilliant in the summer for helping Oli to stay asleep. If only we had one now!

Parties
I held a card and handbag party at my house, which was a great excuse for a girl's night in. Janet supplied the invites and organised everything - all I had to do was supply the guests and the refreshments. Janet brought along a great selection of cards, handbags, cushions etc for us to look at and to purchase on the night if we wished. She also took orders from people for one off handbag designs, which allowed us to choose the fabric and leather that we wanted for a truly individual design.
A fantastic evening - and as the party holder I got a percentage off my order!

Handbags
I bought a bag from Janet which is now one of my personal favourites! It is roomy, comfy, stylish and goes with a whole range of clothes, so very adaptable. Best of all, hardly anyone has one of these hand-made bags, so very individual too!

Many thanks for the fabulous customised mummy bags you made for me. I could have whatever I wanted, and your suggestions worked out really well. I'm really pleased with both of mine. The first bag made a great storage bag for all of my baby things when Oli was young, and now I can use the second smaller bag to carry just enough stuff to save me from any major disasters! Both of my bags were made of leather and fully lined, with lots of pockets so I knew where everything is. Now I just need rid of the kids to have the kid free bag!
